They Paved Paradise and Put Up a Parking Lot

Observation:  One of the more interesting challenges of this project is parking.  I always leave knowing what section of the city I am going to ride, but I never know where I am going to park until I get there and so not wanting my car damaged or stolen is always a concern.  Over the year, I have definitely fine-tuned my approach and my list of chosen locals includes churches (especially Sunday morning), in front of banks (they always have cameras), grocery stores (good traffic), funeral home (some element of respect), and the perfect spot when I can find them – police stations.

Distance:  42.44 miles

D-Fact:  The most beautiful and at the same time disheartening parking lot in Detroit would be Detroit’s Michigan Theater.  Built in 1926, alongside the connected 13-story Michigan Building office tower, the 4,000-seat Michigan Theater had been left to decay eventually being used as a parking structure like no other in America.
