Secure for the Future

Observation:  Nothing outstanding about today’s ride, just a simple 23 mile ride through a good neighborhood.  While this area had relatively few abandoned homes, one house seen in the pic below did make me think of something that I have noticed during this project – how abandoned homes are secured.  In the worst neighborhoods, the windows and door are just broken or missing, but in hoods where there has been effort of saving these homes, they are usually just boarded with simple plywood and nails.  In the example below though they have even gone so far as locking up the house in a very industrial fashion.  I kind of wonder if the city or residents had done things more consistently over the decades how many of these beautiful homes would still be salvageable.

Distance:  23.15 miles

D-Fact:  There are over 1,300 urban gardens in the city.
